Casa San Miguel Food Pantry

HOURS OF OPERATION

The Casa San Miguel Food Pantry distributes food on Tuesday mornings from 8:00-10:00 am.

Clients may visit once every 4 weeks. New clients may register on Tuesday morning between 8:00 and 9:30 am. We prefer that new clients bring a picture ID to complete the registration process. A completed registration is useful at any Roadrunner Food Bank partner site.

In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR FOOD PANTRY

  • Please help us serve you in an efficient manner.

  • Because each new registration takes a while, we will not process new registrations after 9:30 AM.

  • Let our parking lot greeter know if this is your first visit to Casa San Miguel. They will direct you to our initial registration station. If there is more than one person in your vehicle, one person can walk to the new registration site while the driver stays in line. We prefer that you have a photo ID available for registration

  • If you are returning, please have your yellow ID card ready to show when you enter the parking lot.

  • Do not return earlier than the last date stamped on the back of your card – we will have you leave the line if you return too early.

  • Record your ID number from the yellow card somewhere in case you lose the actual card (we will replace your lost card).

  • Please keep the line tight (minimal gap to the car in front of you). It’s not safe when the end of the line blocks Montaño.

  • Plan ahead so you have adequate space in your trunk or back seat for the food you will receive.

  • We have a limited supply of food. While our hours are 8 to 10 AM every Tuesday, we may have to shut down early. We won’t waste your time waiting in line if we will run out of food before you make it to the distribution point.

  • We strive to treat everyone with respect and kindness. Please ask for Jake or Robert if you have any comments or concerns.

About the Ministry

The mission statement for St Michael and All Angels Church calls for its members to “…be transformed by the love of God in our midst and sent out to serve others.” In response, the Casa San Miguel Food Pantry, located at St. Michael's, exists to reach out to serve our neighbors who are living with food insecurity.

  • In 2023, the Food Pantry reached out and provided the following assistance:

  • Served 3,387 households

  • Provided 4,821 standard grocery bags of food plus produce, bread, and meat when available

  • Delivered food weekly to clients at Dismas House, a transitional living program for men on parole or probation.

All of this was made possible by the contribution of 4,581 hours of labor by the dedicated Food Pantry volunteers handling on average 5,592 pounds of food weekly, and by the loving support of the community of St. Michael and All Angels Church.

The success of this ministry is reflected in the continued support by the church at large, our partnership with Roadrunner Food Bank, and the growth of the people being served. While the Pantry receives funds from several sources, the majority of the funding we receive is from the parish through Sunday morning collections and monthly commitments of several parishioners. It is very humbling to know that the parish places such faith in this ministry and we will continue to serve our church by serving our neighbors in need
